Hi, my name is Lynsay Findlay I am a born and bred Fifer. I have always worked in hotels. I left school at the age of 16 going into further education at Fife college. I completed my NC in tourism and then went on to complete a HND in Travel & Tourism. When I left college at the age of 19 I started working at the Holiday Inn Express Glenrothes. I started as part time receptionist which went to a full time position and then Head of reception. Whilst in my role as Head of reception I looked after the hotel when the general manager at the time was on maternity leave, when the GM returned from maternity I was promoted to Deputy GM and received Sojourn Hotels LLP employee of the year award for 2011/2012. One year later I was appointed as GM at Holiday Inn Express Glenrothes. In October of 2016 I was appointed as GM of Hotel Indigo Edinburgh.
My main passions in life are animals & people, I love developing and coaching others. One of my proudest achievements whilst working in Splendid Hospitality Group was my deputy being appointed as GM when I left my position. I coached & helped her prepare & be ready for her first GM role.
Being number 1 on IHG Heartbeat guest love was also a great achievement (the hotel was number 1 out of 137 HIE hotels in the UK) for 3 consecutive months. I was also nominated for GM of the year at Splendid Hospitality Groups first conference and awards in 2016.
I love spending time with friends and family and my wee cat Phoebe, I adopted Phoebe with my husband in Feb 2015. Phoebe is an indoor cat as she is deaf, cats can be quite lazy at times so to keep her fit we work on tricks together. Between the ages of 10 to 16 I competed in the sport of baton twirling, From the age of 16 I worked with my best friend training and coaching others in baton twirling in our home town of Glenrothes.
Splendid gave me an exciting opportunity to be part of the ‘Change Readiness’ (internal) programme in 2016, it was an amazing journey that is on-going.
Being part of Splendid means being part of a fast paced and fast-growing organisation that wants to lead the way in not only the hospitality industry but across all sectors of business. Splendid is constantly moving forward!
I would love to work with rescue Elephants in Asia.
Be kind to yourself and others.
