Originally from Yorkshire, with over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, (it’s probably a little more but it scares me realise how old I am) I have travelled around the UK, as well as the USA and Middle East working in Hotels taking in different experiences, ideologies and “management know how”, before landing at the door of Splendid Hospitality Group.
The convincer to join the group, which was at its infancy three years ago, was the initial meeting I had with the CEO who described his vision for the group to be that of an organisation which would be innovative and development focussed, not only on properties but on the best resource the company has which is its PEOPLE.
Living in Norfolk I often hear the term NFN (Normal for Norfolk), but what’s refreshing is that Splendid is definitely not “normal” for Hospitality. The pure commitment to the development of the People within the company, not only for those at the top but right down to grassroots level, is at the heart of the business and is breathed daily, coupled with investment into existing properties and procurement of additional hotels to the portfolio pushes the barriers in an already fast paced and innovative environment.
The development opportunities have served me well not only personally moving to a Cluster General Manager role but allowing my Team to move forward and further their own careers, through their own self-development leading to their own promotions and goals.
The best advice that I have been given and would share is the following: “If you ask the right question, you will always get the right answer”.
