After an exciting transformation from a £20M development programme and the hotel doubling in size to 207 guest rooms, this is an exciting opportunity to join the team as Assistant Director of Sales.

If you are passionate about MICE sales, tenacious and want to represent the luxury hotel of the North, then this could be the role for you.

The role will work closely with the Director of Sales and our team of pro-active sales managers and onsite event executives to deliver the MICE budget for the hotel. Account management, new business, client hospitality and representing the hotel at key trade shows and exhibitions relating to your segment will all form part of your role.

The sales team at The Grand consists of 5 pro-active, 5 re-active and admin support, learning & development opportunities are in abundant along with reward and recognition and bonus scheme.

Working with MICE agents and direct bookers you will maintain and convert a consistent pipeline of opportunities, be an ambassador of The Grands status as “A Palace of Business” and be prepared to travel nationally on a regular basis.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to progress to a Director of Sales role within 18-24 months. The ideal candidate will be working as a sales manager/senior sales manager or equivalent in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Experience of the luxury market is advantageous.

Position Purpose

  •  To pro-actively drive all sales functions within the hotel, with a specific focus on the MICE segment.

Key Responsibilities

  • To create and execute a sales activity plan which supports the MICE strategy.
  • To generate a consistent pipeline of opportunities, which converts.
  • Conduct sales calls on a daily/weekly basis to potential meeting and event bookers (Agency and Direct)
  • Driving loyalty and repeat business through effective account management.
  • Conduct hotel presentations, face to face meetings and site vists to key event bookers.
  • To represent the hotel in various trade shows and other industry events.
  • Account manage key accounts to either maintain or grow business.
  • A focus on generating new business, particularly MICE.
  • Manage the relationship between the hotel and Preferred Hotels Group Sales Team (UK)
  • To work closely with the marketing manager, ensuring the pro-active sales team have all relevant collateral including brochures, flyers, display stands etc.
  • To work closely with Director of Sales and support in senior management meetings where required.
  • To lead, train and development the sales team.

Essential

  • Strong commercial acumen
  • A sales manager or senior sales manager within hotel sales, with a proven record of the MICE segment
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • The ability to communicate effectively to key stakeholders
  • Excellent leadership skills


Preferred

  • An understanding of the luxury MICE market
  • Proficiency in opera S&C and salesforce.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
