The Grand, York the city’s finest hotel, is delighted to announce the upcoming opening of their new fine dining restaurant, Legacy, and we have an opportunity for a fine dining waiter/Chef De Rang to join the team.

At the helm of the new restaurant is Head Chef Ahmed Abdalla. He will play a pivotal role in continuing to elevate the hotel’s focus on modern British cuisine with a refined menu made up of a carefully curated collaboration of flavours and locally sourced ingredients. The setting will be bold yet elegant, seating up to 26 covers, with interiors demonstrating the building’s iconic and historic features with modern twists, including blueprint murals, oak panelling, sculptural lighting, industrial ironwork and crisp colour contrasts.

The team at Legacy will invite guests to indulge in a new culinary offering with the opportunity to elevate it further with an overnight stay at The Grand itself. As well as a tasting menu, the restaurant offers an immersive wine pairing crafted by the in-house sommelier.

Your role in our family;

-      Constantly seek out opportunities to go above and beyond for our guests and give them the attention that they deserve. Make it your mission to ensure that every guest leaves happy.

-        Have expert knowledge of the food and wine that we offer and create opportunities to keep yourself up to date with our latest seasonal menu’s to drive sales

-        Confidently deliver the key restaurant processes and standards, including service steps and demonstrate these consistently

-        Work well as part of a team, treating others like family and proactively seek out ways to lend a hand

-        Have an eye for detail and very high standards when it comes to our service, hygiene, safety and cleanliness standards

-        Running shift across all services, in the absence of management.

-        Be confident in conflict resolution.

-        Ensure quality of food & beverages served meets exacting standards

-        Drive together with fine-dining restaurant manager training programs and coaching sessions to maintain high service performance

-        Maintain high level of cleanliness for the restaurant

-        Monitor stock of dry store items, guest supplies and service operating equipment

-        Lead daily meeting with and/or in absence of fine-dining restaurant manager

-        Display strong guest interpersonal skills to control overall satisfaction and build guest loyalty

-        Ability to make executive decisions without constantly relying on manager.

-        Cashing up at the end of any shift that has been run by themselves.

-        Amending menus where necessary, by liaising with kitchen department.

-        Maintain high grooming standards across the team

-        Take accountability for any occurrences on own shift.
