Cluster Financial Controller Head Office (Watford)

Key to this role is ensuring that the financial information relating to  hotels are recorded and reported accurately and on time. Reporting into the Group Financial Controller. the successful candidate will maintain balance sheet controls to ensure predictable financial reporting; whilst engaging with hotel General Managers and will involve some UK based travel.

Your role in our family:

Key responsibilities to your role: 

• 100% compliance with all internal control procedures for cluster hotels.
• Opportunities for transformational change in financial reporting across cluster hotels and wider finance team identified and/or implemented.
• Ensure that all reports issued in relation to the cluster hotels are timely and accurate.  In particular, the monthly management accounts need to be issued in line with the strict month end timetable.
• Responsible for balance sheet control, including 100% compliance of balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis. 
• Build meaningful relationships with all stakeholders, and in particular, General Managers of the cluster hotels, the Group Financial Controller and other members of the finance team.
• Understand the drivers of EBITDA for cluster hotels, including Key Performance Indicators. Communicate trends and opportunities to improve EBITDA to hotel General Managers in a timely and proactive manner.
• Support internal and external audits, implementing new control recommendations and ensuring compliance with existing policies.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, effectively present ideas and turn them into practical actions. Support wider finance team and Splendid group goals and initiatives.
• Responsible for the preparation of the P&L
• Bank & Balance Sheet Reconciliations

The ideal candidate will be a:

• Strong technical accountant with an ability to work to strict deadlines.
• Good communicator, building meaningful relationships with senior stakeholders, including hotel General Managers.
• Team player with an ability to contribute to wider Splendid group goals.
• Ability to bring a commercial outlook to the role such that deliverables add value and insight to the business.
• Self starter with a strong desire for personal development.
• Prior experience in hospitality industry will be an advantage.
• Qualified/part qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Excel skills a must
• Hospitality background preferred but not essential
