Head of Communications

Position Purpose

  • You will be responsible for the strategic planning, overseeing and the execution of all PR and Internal/External Communications across the Splendid Group to enhance the reputation of our organisation internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with relevant Group Leaders to set PR and Communication strategy for the relevant business units. Ensure the successful development and implementation of SHG’s communication strategy in the UK
  • Oversee, plan and drive all internal communication across the Splendid Group portfolio – delivering an effective internal communications process.
  • Build a strong network of key and influential journalists, media specialists in order to positively influence SHG's coverage – showing ROI and positive publicity locally and nationally.
  • Bring all areas of the wider SHG group together to operate as positive contributors to the overall SHG brand
  • Planning and delivery of creative media and PR messages/campaigns that have a genuine influence and positive impact on SHG’s brand
  • Offer strategic PR/Comms and Media Relation guidance and advice to senior leaders to create opportunities and maximise media impact
  • Lead on reactionary PR issues – crisis management and pro-active PR stories
  • Championing community engagement in local areas and engage with all key initiatives

 

Person Specification

1. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Preferred

  • Excellent communication skills written and verbal, including presentation skills
  • Experience leading a communications strategy
  • Ability to work collaboratively and across multiple channels
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, on time and to budget
  • Experience working alongside and promoting our brand
  • Strong copy-writing skills
  • Experience of PR and communications

Exceptional

  • PR and Communications experience across hotels, restaurants and/or residential
  • Degree or qualification in relevant subject (eg English Economics, Marketing, PR)

2. Proven Experience/Education Level

  • Strong experience of communications/PR within hospitality
  • Track record in developing and realising strategic aims across a range of communications channels
