Night Manager, The Grand Hotel, York

The role of a Night Manager will represent the Management during the night. The Night Manager also assists the Reception Manager in all aspects of the department including but not limited to operations, planning, staffing and payroll in accordance with hotel's policies and procedures.The Night Manager provides leadership and support to all members of the Front Office and enforces the Hotels Standards of Excellence in all areas supervised.

Your role in our family:

Key responsibilities to your role: 

  • Supervision and management of the Reception department during the night, maintaining consistently high standards of customer service and maximisation of rooms revenue
  • Responsible for departmental training of existing and new night team members
  • To assist Reception Manager in running of the department ensuring all systems and processes are adhered to
  • To assist Reception Manager in training delivery and objectives setting and reviews for the team members
  • To take ownership and responsibility for improving communication with other departments and following up on guest requests and queries.
  • Respond to all customer queries in a polite, friendly and efficient manner. Dealing with complaints within bounds of responsibility
  • Supervise the night team, ensuring that an efficient and warm check in and check out is received at all times
  • Perform all reception duties as and when needed
  • Maximise hotel revenue for all departments by upselling and selling hotel facilities on every occasion
  • Examine arrivals for special requests and make appropriate room allocations
  • To prepare group arrivals, allocate rooms and check if master accounts are checked in as and where necessary
  • To liaise with Reception Manager, ensuring, Out of Order, Room moves, and Special Requests are actioned
  • To ensure all billing and banking procedures are done correctly and financial reconciliation takes place during the night time.
  • To ensure a smart appearance of all Night team staff at all times and that the correct uniform is worn
  • To perform duty management shifts
  • This is a highly operational role based on shift work to support the Reception Manager and the team that might require flexibility in working hours and commitment.
