We are now looking for a Pastry Chef to join the fantastic team at The Grand Hotel and Spa, York's only 5* property.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Excelling with flawless and timely service that is intuitive and responsive
    • Being approachable, having confidence and showing respect
    • Maintain a high level of knowledge which will enhance the guest experience
    • Appreciate the dynamic nature of the hotel industry and extend these service attributes to all internal guests
    • Follow the companies food safety management system and effectively monitor the processes to junior team members
    • Composition of the afternoon tea menu, the rise dessert menu and special events 
    • Training the team to deliver consistent standards during days off and annual leave
    • To assist the Executive Chef in the motivation and training of the staff.

Person Specification

1.  Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Strong customer awareness and focus
  • Able to work flexibly to suit the hours (various shift patterns) & needs of the kitchen
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to effectively deal with team and customers
  • Ability to work and interact well as part of a team
  • Sound organisational skills with the ability to identify and juggle priorities

2.  Proven experience/education level

  • Previous experience as a pastry chef is essential
  • Previous experience in a luxury environment is essential
