The Grand York, is Yorkshire’s only AA accredited 5 star hotel and is housed in the former Headquarters of the North Eastern Railway. Following a recent expansion, our hotel now boasts 207 luxurious guest rooms, two restaurants – The Rise, and the 3 AA Rosette Restaurant, Hudsons alongside our 1906 Bar, exclusive White Rose Lounge, seven conference and events spaces, a spa and the a brand new Cookery School.

Receptionist

We are now looking for a Receptionist to join the fantastic team at The Grand, Yorks only 5* property.

Key Responsibilities

  • To carry out the full check in and check out processes in a seamless manner.
  • Ensure all of our guests get 5* service
  • Undertake all front of house duties including: meeting, greeting and attending to the needs of guests, to ensure an extraordinary guest experience.
  • Ensure any guest complaints or issues are quickly resolved
  • Administer all routes of reservations to ensure that room bookings are made and recorded accurately.
  • Ensure that all reservations and cancellations are processed efficiently.

Person Specification

1.  Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including a pleasant telephone manner
  • Ability to remain calm during difficult situations or in a very busy environment
  • The ability to work as part of team or alone
  • Good administrative skills and IT literacy
  • Experience using a Property Management System
  • To be discreet, diplomatic, reliable and trustworthy
  • Have a good command of written and spoken English
  • Must be able to work on full time basis, must be flexible to work on rota basis

2.  Proven experience/education level

  • Previous customer service experience in hospitality industry is preferable
  • Experience of working in a 5* property would be extraordinary
