Sales Manager

Due to the recent £15m development of an additional 100 bedrooms, The Grand Hotel & Spa York are now looking for a dynamic and experienced Sales Manager to join our team to drive business from the local and regional area.

Position Purpose

Drive rooms sales from key target accounts, locally, nationally and sometimes internationally, whilst maintaining or growing market share from existing accounts to ultimately achieve the Business Travel rooms revenue.

Reporting directly into the Director of Sales, you will be responsible for driving corporate business travel into the hotel from TMCs and direct corporate accounts, ensuring that it is at the right rate for the business. You will be responsible for implementing, and taking ownership of a sales activity plan which delivers consistent and predictable top line results through having a full and fast flowing pipeline of opportunities.

Drive rooms sales from key target accounts, locally, nationally and sometimes internationally, whilst maintaining or growing market share from existing accounts to ultimately achieve the Business Travel rooms revenue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, implement and drive a sales activity plan to support your segment.
  • To have a consistant pipeline of opportunities to ensure predictable forecasting and top line results.
  • Identify and target new key business travel accounts for the Hotel
  • Driving rooms revenue through mangaging a number of consortia programmes.
  • Working closely with the rest of the sales team to quickly identify need periods and implement tactical promotions and team wide support
  • Driving loyalty and repeat business from business travel accounts.
  • Maintain relationships and full account management of local corproate accounts, to ensure we are maximising revenue opportunities across the hotel.
  • To work closely with the marketing team to ensure you have all the relevant collateral to support each segment including brochures, flyers, display stands etc.

Person Specification

Ideal characteristics:

  • A natural “go getter” of business, born motivator, upbeat and enthusiastic
  • Self-motivated, driven, results orientated and proactive attitude
  • Displays high integrity and honesty
  • Curious 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Has a pro-active sales background
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • Proven experience of delivering new business
  • The ability to build relationships quickly
  • Collaboration and team work
  • Full, clean driving licence.

Experience of Opera and Salesforce preferred.

Industry experience either hotel or agency based would be preferential but not essential.
