Sous Chef

The Grand Hotel and Spa

We are now looking for a Sous Chef to join the fantastic team at The Grand Hotel and Spa, Yorks only 5* property.

Being a key part of the Splendid family, all our team members need to be able to promise to:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understanding the process of ordering using birch street, costing, profit loss within the system
  • Daily kitchen management such as receiving invoices, flash food reports and weekly rotas
  • Follow the companies food safety management system and effectively monitor the processes to junior team members
  • To complete mandatory training using the flow training program
  • Food production to the highest of standards
  • Composition of menus to a five star standard

Person Specification

1.  Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Strong customer awareness and focus
  • Able to work flexibly to suit the hours (various shift patterns) and needs of the kitchen
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to effectively deal with team and customers
  • Ability to work and interact well as part of a team
  • Sound organisational skills with the ability to identify and juggle priorities

2.  Proven experience/education level

  • Previous kitchen management experience is essential
  • Previous experience in a luxury environment is preferable
